About the party

P.C.D.: Partido da Convergência Democrática (Democratic Convergence Party), founded and led by Victor Mandinga, and controlling the newspaper Bagueira. This party is not listed among the candidates of either the 2004 nor the 2008 elections. I found mentions to this party in:

Gathering of information about P.C.D. is made harder by the fact that there are/were parties with this same name also in Cape Verde, St. Thomas, and Mozambique.

According to “A Transição Democrática na Guiné-Bissau : Um Parto Dificil” article by Carlos Cardoso in Lusotopie 1995: 259, this party was part of the politically heterogenous Unido coalition, created in November 1992, along with FLING, P.D.P., and P.R.S.

About the flag

The flag of P.C.D. is shown in both ballot papers reported (#6 in Bissau-28 and #4 in Bissau-29). It is a light blue flag with red letter reading "PDC" in serif capitals set widely spaced, with the party emblem on the fly, everything taking up the horizontal middle of the flag (maybe slightly set to the bottom). The flag ratio is roughly 5:7 as most others’ in the ballot papers are. The emblem is a yellow bee in front view with outstreched wings, drawn in zoologically realistic style, with black lining.
